Bird hunting season starts Saturday

Bird hunting season starts Saturday

The 2013-2014 Game Bird Hunting Season opens Saturday. According to the Department of Land and Natural Resources, the season will run through Jan. 20, with legal hunting on Saturdays, Sundays and state holidays.

This year, DLNR biologists are predicting an average season of bird hunting, because of the easing of drought conditions in many parts of the state.

All game bird hunters should be familiar with Title 13, Chapter 122 “Rules Regulating Game Bird Hunting.”

Hunters will be required to check in and out at established hunter check stations. Hunters must have permission from landowners if they choose to hunt on private land.

For more information contact the Division of Forestry and Wildlife office at 887-6063.
